Editions / Artists’ Book Fair (E/AB Fair) this coming week end

November 3 – 6, 2016

New York

This year’s Fair will gather over 40 exhibitors from around the US, Europe, and South Africa showing their latest publications at The Tunnel in New York’s Chelsea. The Fair will take place November 3 – 6 during New York’s Print Week, to coincide with IFPDA’s Print Fair, and dozens of special exhibitions, talks, and workshops throughout the city.
Editions / Artists’ Book Fair (E/AB Fair) has been New York’s premier showcase for the discovery of new and contemporary prints, multiples, and artists’ books. Renowned for its cultivation of an international community of publishers, E/AB Fair provides a platform for their growth in the art market. Each year the Fair presents a thoughtfully curated exhibition of works by hundreds of emerging and established artists and an informative program of artist talks.
Founded in 1998 by Susan Inglett of I.C. Editions, in partnership with Brooke Alexander Editions and Printed Matter, the Fair is now presented by the Lower East Side Printshop, a non-profit organization. E/AB Fair provides free admission in order to introduce broader public to contemporary prints, multiples and artists books.

The New York Times Feminist Reading Group..@ the WHitney this coming Saturday

SAT, NOV 5, 2016

1–2:30 PM

Location: Floor Three, Laurie M. Tisch Education Center,
Hearst Artspace
On the occasion of the historic 2016 U.S. presidential election,
artists Jen Kennedy and Liz Linden perform their ongoing project
The New York Times Feminist Reading Group, which is dedicated
to reading the day’s issue of The New York Times from a feminist perspective.

The New York Times Feminist Reading Group combines different
models of feminist gatherings, including consciousness-raising
groups of the 1960s and 70s activism, academic seminar formats,
and socially-oriented book-clubs most often convened in the hosts’
domestic spaces. Because current events are a fluid and changing
subject matter, each performance differs dramatically, shaped as
well by the range of backgrounds and political positions of the
participants in the room. The New York Times Feminist Reading
Group is a way to examine the media landscape through the lens
of feminism but also look at the diversity of feminisms represented
in media, and in this way each performance tells us something
about the wide variety of what feels urgent and relevant to each
 participant that day.
Free with Museum admission.

The Loft Artists Association "Open Studios 2016” Fri. Nov. 11, 6 to 9 PM, Sat. Nov. 12 , Noon to 5 PM and Sun. Nov. 13, Noon to 5 pm

The Loft Artists Association celebrates another event-filled year of “art-meets-life” in the South End with “Open Studios 2016” at 575 Pacific St. in Stamford on Fri. Nov. 11, 6 to 9 PM, Sat. Nov. 12 , Noon to 5 PM and Sun. Nov. 13, Noon to 5 pm

“Our annual weekend-long exhibition highlights the LAA’s creativity in this growing area of Stamford, bringing art, culture, and interactive collaboration, not only to the South End population, but to the entire community,” President Ellen Gordon says. “This is a rare opportunity for art lovers, collectors, and appreciators to see the work of over 40 award-winning artists in one location.”

The Loft Artists pioneered the South End of Stamford, setting up an artist colony in the former Yale & Towne Factory, now the home of contemporary apartments. They produced happenings, performances, tours and lectures that attracted thousands of people from the tri-state area. They held workshops, gave demonstrations and opened their doors, inviting the community to see the creative process first hand. Now, 39 years later, they continue their great outreach tradition and invite the public to what has become known as one of Stamford’s greatest art experiences.

The Loft Artists Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to building connections within Fairfield County’s visual arts community and introducing the general public to artists and their work. Their grassroots events attract thousands of visitors and have been recognized by funding agencies, including the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, corporate and private sponsors, the City of Stamford and by visitors who return year after year. Admission and parking are free. (A donation is suggested.) Handicapped access is available on Saturday.

For directions and more information call 203-247-2027. Supported by The City Arts Partnership Program – City of Stamford, David Martin, Mayor. Sponsored in part by Aghabumi Best of Bali, Louis J. Kuriansky Foundation, Bob and Pat Phillips, and Wagner Instruments.
