Regarder sa bande dessinée favorite Little Nemo in Slumberland était joyeux et libérateur.

Michel Gérard vit à New York et à Paris.

Reviews
“In this lovely hip hop tale, Chibane uses his characters’ imagination to evoke the reality of social integration. With very little means, he achieved a truly social and musical film. Miraculous!” Paris Match - Christine Haas

“Chibane is at his best when he delivers such fantasy and irony, when he orchestrates each and every situation” Télérama - Jacques Morice

“There is nothing schematised in this lively and foretelling comedy. It shows the contrasts which human nature fosters” TéléCinéObs - Alain Riou

“Chibane paints a pacified social chronicle, conceived as a series of pictures backed by a beautiful light and a magnificent soundtrack” Zurban - Yasmine Youssi

Synopsis
In the suburbs of Paris, there is a privatized former public housing estate called ‘the Mozart estate’. There is no classic music there, but a rap musician lacking inspiration. Ideas? Lyrics? Music? But what if his inspiration were right on his doorstep? The rapper observes, composes, writes and sings. The life of the whole building is dissected and transformed through his writing. The Mozart estate metamorphoses into the stage for a hip hop fable. Discussions become poetry, situations are turned into tales, and every voice brings its own melody to a unique album. ‘Voisins, Voisines’ is a movie about how the vision of an artist brings beauty and meaning to the lives of his entourage.

Films on the Green
Five critically-acclaimed movies were selected, revolving around solidarity, and the powerful links that are formed between communities, friends and neighbors. Profound and moving, each one depicts a different facet of France’s multi ethnic, multicultural society—from its animated banlieues to its typical countryside towns.

In the East Village’s Parks from May 30 to June 27, this event will then move to Harlem parks in July; two neighborhoods selected for their dynamic and close-knit communities.

Anyone interested for going to the movie in NYC?

Wednesday, June 25 – Tuesday, July 8 • Two Weeks
Showtimes: 1:15, 3:15, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00

THE BRILLIANT, ICONOCLASTIC LOUISE BOURGEOIS, now 96 and surely the grande dame of the art world, will have a full-career retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum simultaneously with the premiere of this riveting documentary portrait. Co-directed by Marion Cajori and Amei Wallach, the movie records Bourgeois at work and play, fashioning art in her studio and ruminating upon the deep emotional and psychological roots of her work. Bourgeois’s massive spiders, some as large as 30 feet, have been exhibited throughout the world. They symbolize the maternal impulse, but it is the artist’s passionate connection with various childhood traumas (her father’s live-in mistress being just one) that fuel much of her groundbreaking work. Critic/curators Robert Storr and Deborah Wye, and the artist’s longtime aide-de-camp Jerry Gorovoy, lend piquant commentary.

Save the date July 26th

Behind this picture, there is LINDA N, (the mother of Wendy on the right) , docent with me at the Neuberger. She is opening her House on July 26th ....

Martine"

Concerning the MET..........

A Century of the World Distilled at the Met
Museums
By LANCE ESPLUND
June 5, 2008

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is not headlining its luminous exhibition "Framing a Century: Master Photographers, 1840-1940." There was no press preview or publication for the show, and no banner for the exhibit graces the Met's façade. But the enchanting gathering of more than 150 prints — 10 to 12 iconic works by each of 13 key photographers — a whirlwind tour of the medium's first 100 years, is sure to be one of the Met's sleeper hits of the summer.

What's ABRAHAM HOUSE?

Abraham House was founded in 1993 by three Rikers Island chaplains (who have more than 60 years experience at the prison) and Department of Corrections personnel. Though the founders include a French worker priest and Catholic nuns, Abraham House is non-denominational. The initial goal of Abraham House was to break the cycle of recidivism (which is a disheartening 70% in New York State) with a demanding residential program that serves no more than a dozen offenders at a time. (more on their website)

An Innocent Child : Aide Financière
30 Mai 2008

Madame, Monsieur.

Mon film s’appelle An Innocent Child.

Soraya H
