SOTHEBY'S AUCTION: Contemporary Art New York | September 22, 2011

The September 22nd Contemporary Auction offers carefully selected works by artists from the Post-War period through the present day. The sale covers a range of works from movements including Abstract Expressionism, Pop, Minimalism, Conceptualism, Contemporary Photography and Contemporary Chinese along with many of today's most exciting young artists.

Highlights include Cindy Sherman’s 1989 work Untitled (#196) from her “History Portrait” series, an elegant Alexander Calder stabile, Model for “Spiral” at UNESCO, Anselm Kiefer’s exquisite book Grabmaland a monumental, Color-Field composition by celebrated artist Helen Frankenthaler.  Also included in the sale are selected works from the Lehman Brothers Corporate Art Collection, a grouping from the Estate of Robert Creeley featuring works by John Chamberlain including sculptures, a painting and photography as well as a selection of works on paper by Pop artist Richard Lindner tracing the artist’s career.
