Speaking of Outdoor Art .....What's happening in Versailles?

and maybe in this short presentation (source) is the answer to WHY Jeff Koons in VERSAILLES (Very Personnal Comment from the redaction!!)

"
The world’s most expensive artist will show works in one of the world’s most lavish exhibition spaces next year, Agence France-Press reports. In his first major French museum show, Jeff Koons will exhibit 12 to 15 of his large-scale works at the Palace of Versailles, Marie Antoinette’s legendary former palace outside Paris.

Works on display might include those owned by the French billionaire Francois Pinault, who heads his own contemporary art museum, the Palazzo Grassi, in Venice. The Palazzo Grassi and Versailles are connected in that Versailles president Jean-Jacques Aillagon is the former manager of Pinault’s museum.

The exhibition is slated for September 26 through December 14, 2008, and the show is an extension of the palace’s "Versailles Off" program that puts temporary contemporary art exhibitions on the Versailles grounds. "Our job is not to do what modern art museums or the Tate Gallery do,’’ Aillagon said. "What is interesting is to explore the resonance between artists’ works and Versailles, and invite the visitor to look at the palace differently."
