On December 13 at 6:30 pm we will have an exceptional movie night with a screening of The Lady (2011) by Luc Besson starring Michelle Yeoh. It will be followed by a Q&A with Producer and Alumnae Virginie Silla-Besson (89’).  “The Lady” is the story of Burmese pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi from 1989 to 1999, year when her husband dies. The film is based on a script written by novelist Rebecca Fray and was shot in Thailand in 2010. The movie is in English. The Q&A will be in both languages with translation from French to English available.

Le 13 décembre à 18h30 nous aurons une soirée cinéma exceptionnelle avec la projection de The Lady le dernier film de Luc Besson avec Michelle Yeoh. Le film sera suivi d’un Questions- Réponses avec la productrice et ancienne élève du Lycée Virginie Silla-Besson (89’). The Lady est l’histoire de l’activiste démocrate birmane Aung San Suu Kyi sur une période allant de 1989 à 1999, année de la mort de son mari. Le film est inspiré d’un livre écrit par la romancière Rebecca Fray et a été filmé en Thaïlande en 2010.
Le film est en anglais et sera suivi d’un exercice de Questions-Réponses en français et en anglais.
Durée du film : 2h20 suivi du Questions Réponses.

meet the artist Liam Roberts

Liam Roberts’ fertile imagination transmutes images into abstract-like compositions of strik- ing energy and brushwork. He says that he is not a maker of pictures, but a maker of paintings, and that the viewer completes the work, not simply by looking but by the labour of seeing. Shakespeare, as usual, says it best: “Let every eye negotiate for itself . . .” Roberts’ mediums are acrylic, gouache, collage and ink. This show comprises recent and earlier works.
