This morning Art Basel Miami Beach released the list of galleries that have been accepted into its 2012 edition, which runs Dec. 6–9. (The VIP day is Dec. 5.) A total of 257 made the cut out of a field of “more than 680,” according to a PR rep, giving the coveted fair a roughly 38 percent acceptance rate. (Just about the same acceptance rate as the University of Miami, incidentally.) Galleries hail from 31 countries and five continents (no dealers from Australia or Antarctica this year), and 77 will come to town from New York, accounting for about 30 percent of participants.

In the Art Positions section, which allows dealers to present a single-artist project, two New York galleries are among the 16 exhibitors. Both are located on the Lower East Side: Fitzroy Gallery, which will present the art of Colby Bird and Ramiken Crucible, who will offer up work from Andra Ursuta. (The latter has a new show opening at Ramiken on Saturday called “Magical Terrorism.”) Over in the Art Nova section, which invites displays of work made in the last three years from two or three artists, New York will be represented by Untitled, Wallspace, Lombard Fried and Eleven Rivington.
