A major event in the arts calendar, FIAC pursues its development, confirming its status as one of the leading international art fairs.
This year, FIAC celebrates its 40th edition.
In a spirit of continuity, FIAC 2013 reasserts the strengths of the fair’s identity: high quality and rigorous selection; a broad scope that offers an overview of modern, contemporary art and emerging trends; the close ties it maintains with actors of the public and private sectors; its openness to different creative fields, along with a fresh perspective on recent cultural developments.
FIAC 2013 brings together more than 180 galleries from 25 countries at the Grand Palais. The Nave and the Salon d’honneur welcome galleries specializing in modern and contemporary art. The exhibition galleries situated on Level 1 present international contemporary art along with emerging tendencies. FIAC and its official partner, the Galeries Lafayette group, pursue the Lafayette Sector initiative, a programme of support for young galleries inaugurated in 2009.
FIAC reinforces its identity by investing venues of unrivalled prestige with outdoor projects, conference and performance programmes and artists’ films. FIAC's signature Hors les Murs projects welcome more than 500 000 visitors annually and receive sustained attention from the art world together with national and international media coverage. FIAC develops its Hors les Murs programme by investing the left bank of the Seine, in collaboration with the Ville de Paris and its flagship project, les Berges de la Seine. It offers a promenade leading from the pont de Solférino to the pont des Invalides.
The 40th edition of FIAC also provides the opportunity to discover exceptional exhibitions in Paris and in France. The synergies that FIAC develops with the protagonists of cultural life through the Parcours Privé and the Gallery Night, Thursday, October 24th, highlight the vitality of the French art scene.

meet the artist Liam Roberts

Liam Roberts’ fertile imagination transmutes images into abstract-like compositions of strik- ing energy and brushwork. He says that he is not a maker of pictures, but a maker of paintings, and that the viewer completes the work, not simply by looking but by the labour of seeing. Shakespeare, as usual, says it best: “Let every eye negotiate for itself . . .” Roberts’ mediums are acrylic, gouache, collage and ink. This show comprises recent and earlier works.
