Some call fate, while others deem it coincidence. Whatever the cause, professional photographer/photojournalist is passionate about her work.

Born of an American father and French mother, Marie Hickman spent her childhood summers on the French Riviera. Her youthful exposure to the vast waters of the Mediterranean as well as a plethora of artists helped her passion for vibrant colors to grow as a child. Naturally, when it came time to choose a field of study, Hickman graduated early within the Honors Program at Marymount College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts; after graduating, she studied Lithography at Pratt Graphic Center.


Working in Provence with Lucian Clergue, Picasso's photographer, and world-renowned photographer, Michael Kenna, took her skills to a higher level. Her passion for art expanded to various paths including commercial illustration, graphic design and art. She began work as an Assistant Art Director at various publications including Marriott Inn Magazine and Northwestern Mutual Life Magazine. Her fundamental experience allowed her to land a position as a Creative Director of SKIING MAGAZINE where she traveled extensively for fashion shoot and layouts, that sometimes incorporated olympic athletes, including gold medalists and several well known actors. In addition to the magazine, she produced a yearly 300-page fashion/trade book for 14,000 people within the skiing industry.

meet the artist Liam Roberts

Liam Roberts’ fertile imagination transmutes images into abstract-like compositions of strik- ing energy and brushwork. He says that he is not a maker of pictures, but a maker of paintings, and that the viewer completes the work, not simply by looking but by the labour of seeing. Shakespeare, as usual, says it best: “Let every eye negotiate for itself . . .” Roberts’ mediums are acrylic, gouache, collage and ink. This show comprises recent and earlier works.
