The New York Times Feminist Reading Group..@ the WHitney this coming Saturday

http://whitney.org/Events/NYTFeministReadingGroup Public Programs THE NEW YORK  TIMES  FEMINIST  READING  GROUP SAT, NOV 5, 2016   1–2:30 PM Location: Floor Three, Laurie M. Tisch Education Center, Hearst Artspace On the occasion of the historic 2016 U.S. presidential election, artists Jen Kennedy and Liz Linden perform their ongoing project The New York Times Feminist Reading Group , which is dedicated  to reading the day’s issue of  The New York Times  from a feminist perspective. The New York Times Feminist Reading Group  combines different models of feminist gatherings, including consciousness-raising groups of the 1960s and 70s activism, academic seminar formats, and socially-oriented book-clubs most often convened in the hosts’ domestic spaces. Because current events are a fluid and changing subject matter, each performance differs dramatically, shaped as well by the range of b...

Go Behind the Scenes at the Neuberger Museum of Art

Go Behind the Scenes at the Neuberger Museum of Art Be a Part of the Process of Creating Liza Lou's Color Field!   Liza Lou and the Neuberger Museum invite all Purchase College faculty, staff, and students, and the members of the local community to participate as volunteers in assembling the artist's monumental sculpture Color Field before it opens to the public on November 7, 2015 . It's a rare opportunity to experience the installation process as well as work with a leading contemporary artist. At approximately 1800 square feet, Color Field will cover nearly the entire floor of the Neuberger Museum of Art's largest gallery. Because it is comprised of thousands of beaded wires, it will take many hands to assemble it. This beaded sculpture was meticulously prepared by a team of artisans in Durban, South Africa, and will be carefully sited at the Neuberger with your help and our own group of volunteers trained by and working directly with the artist...
