Photo NM La galeriste Christine Jeanquier vient d'ouvrir, le 20 février dernier, un nouvel espace à Chelsea où elle expose exclusivement des artistes français méconnus aux Etats-Unis. Elle nous présente la première artiste dont elle a importé les œuvres sur le sol américain, l'autodidacte Laina Hadengue. Christine Jeanquier vient de réaliser son rêve : ouvrir sa propre galerie. Avec un léger coup de pouce néanmoins ; elle s'est associée à deux autres galeristes pour créer l'espace  Chelsea 27 , une galerie placée dans un ancien bâtiment appelé le Terminal, autrefois tunnel où les trains passaient pour déposer leurs marchandises en bordure de l'Hudson river. Cette Française, qui vit à New York depuis six ans, n'a eu de cesse d'exposer et de faire découvrir au public américain des artistes français....

Charles Gaines, Liudni Slibinai Thursday, November 7, 7pm Liudni Slibinai (which translates to sad, three-headed dragon) makes playful pop-music that borrows from Lithuanian folk tunes and is animated through musical theater techniques. The multi-talented group, which collaborated with My Barbarian for the 2009 Baltic Triennial, will join Courtesy the Artists while visiting NYC on their first US tour. Opening the evening will be artist Charles Gaines, father and father-in-law to Courtesy the Artists, who is known for his conceptual and systematic works that sometimes refer to musical forms. Trained in jazz performance, Gaines will play a short piano set using a traditional song as a starting point for exploration. Ceres Gallery  presents 10 simultaneous exhibitions each week for five weeks with space available for both two and three-dimensional work. Each artist will be able to fully avail themselves of approximately 12-17 running feet of wall space with 10+ foot ceilings  or  approximately 80-100 square feet of floor space.  (There is only room for one artist each week with work on stands or on the floor) These one-week exhibitions will begin  Nov 26th  and continue through  Dec 28th, 2013  at our 2000+ sq. ft. premiere gallery space in Chelsea. Ceres will host a reception each week for the public as well as for the guests of each artist. Artists are entirely responsible for delivering, installing and de-installing their own work.
