Serie d'entretiens avec Michel Gerard

Mes cent chefs-d’oeuvre 1907 – 2007 Choix et présentation par Michel Gerard d’une oeuvre pour chaque année qui a marqué l’histoire de l’art etla mémoire collective. Cette présentation est suiviede discussions. Nous commençons par “Les demoisellesd’Avignon” de Picasso, 1907. Une oeuvre pour chaqueannée permet une discussion autour du pourquoi de cechoix (son influence, sa relation à l’Histoire engénéral, à d’autres formes de création de la mêmeépoque). Le choix d’une autre oeuvre de l’année enquestion peut être proposée et ainsi faire rebondir ladiscussion. L’idée centrale est que l’histoire de l’art depuis ledébut de la modernité est traversée par des effets derupture suivi de continuité avant d’autres ruptures.Ce que les historiens de l’art ont nommé des“révolutions” qui ont ouvert des possibilités encoreinsoupçonnées à la peinture comme à d’autres formesd’art (architecture, sculpture, musique, littérature).Par exemple la dernière phase importante de rupture aeue lieu en 1990. Message de la part de MICHEL GERARD a propos de la rentree: "J'ai en tete un projet qui me tient a coeur, qui serait "Cent icones de l'art moderne et contemporain".Le choix d'une oeuvre la plus marquante par annee dans l'histoire de l'art de 1907 a 2007. On commence par 1907, rencontre de Braque et Picasso, creation du cubisme et elaboration par ce dernier des "Demoiselles d'Avignon". Un tel projet "Cent Icones", demande une participation active et reguliere, et un dialogue pour les choix et discussions autour de ces choix. On peut envisager peut-etre des choix sur 5 annees par session," Soit une vingtaine de reunions dans l'annee.QU'EN PENSEZ VOUS?

Le 12 Octobre, nous avons rendez-vous a la Barnes Foundation et ensuite avec un peintre dont le studio est juste a coté et qui nous accueille pour nous présenter ses oeuvres. Vous pouvez en avance vous faire une idée de son travail en consultant son site internet ou venir a la maison a la rentrée pour en admirer quelques unes.

1st LMNY Event in September

RDV September 6th for our 1st outing ....which will take place AFTER the welcome Coffee organized by the Westchester Accueil ( http://www.westaccueil.org/ )...already the date and time are "saved"...and it shouldn't be missed....SO after 11h30 we can go together , not too far and depending on the weather that day ,,either outside in the Pepsico Sculpture Garden ..or in the NEUBERGER Museum of Art.

Registration for the new season 2007-2008 is OPEN....You must fill in the same document as last year that I've sent to all LMNY Members about a week ago,....... If you didn't receive it....call me...I will send it again,... Tell me if you have friends , not yet lmny Members who would like to join LMNY Once I receive your registration and if before JULY 1st, , I will send you the planning for next September and the "Agenda". The agenda is a Word document always updated with the exhibits I've been looking up and arranged by date of ending
