Eiko & Koma
Naked: A Living Installation
N.Y. Premiere

MAR 29 — APR 9 2011
This two-week-long movement/visual art installation features Eiko & Koma’s exploration of nakedness, desire, and the elasticity of time, set in an immersive and charged organic environment of their handcrafted design. In Naked, Eiko & Koma will be on continual view, in closer proximity to the audience than ever before. In adjacent spaces, view a companion video installation highlighting Eiko & Koma’s decades of media work.

Audiences are welcome to arrive anytime and stay as long as they wish Tuesday-Friday between 6 PM and 10 PM and Saturdays between 3 PM and 9 PM. Reservations are optional and walk-ups are welcome. However, space is limited inside the installation viewing area, and those with reservations will have priority for entry. Reserve Now

Naked was commissioned by the Walker Art Center and performed there throughout November 2010.
This event is part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide JapanNYC Festival and is presented in partnership with Asia Society and Danspace Project.

“Eiko & Koma lie sometimes intertwined, sometimes separate, but always together. All conventional storytelling is absent; what is left is time and presence. The scene is one of aftermath from some unspecified but lingering trauma. Naked is not so much a performance as a meditation and exchange.”
Bartholomew Ryan, Walker Art Center Curator
