BRÜCKE: THE BIRTH OF EXPRESSIONISM
“Packs several galleries with saturated colors…an eyeful”
The New York Times
This exhibition, the first major museum show devoted to the Brücke artists ever held in the United States, will close on Monday, June 29. It includes over 100 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by the visionary artists Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Hermann Max Pechstein, and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, whose revolutionary work, with its blazing color and striking emotional candor, forms the basis for German Expressionism.
