P is for Performance: Artists' Books on Shelves and in Public Spaces
Books are for reading, but they can also be valued for their artistic qualities. To make the point, the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Purchase College Library have co-organized the exhibition “P is for Performance: Artists’ Books on Shelves and in Public Spaces,” which opens on February 6, 2013, on the second floor of the Library. It considers the ways in which books can move beyond their traditional role as a vehicle of information and become art objects. The exhibition will include a selection of artists' books from the Library's Special
Collections and demonstrate the ways in which two traditionally unrelated art forms-- performance art and books-- can be joined together. This exhibition is curated by the Neuberger Museum of Art Curatorial Fellow, Tennae Maki. The opening reception, part of the Museum's “First Wednesdays at the Neu,” will be held on February 6, 2013, on the second floor of the library and begin with a gallery talk at 4:45pm. The reception will continue until 7:00pm. The exhibit runs through April 24, 2013.
